Summer is almost coming to an end. With fall quickly approaching and the mask mandate getting more lenient, it is important to be prepared for flu season. Thankfully, it isn’t hard to get ready to beat and/or avoid the flu! The first and most important thing we need to do is get our flu shots! Just like how important it was for everyone to get the covid vaccine, we need to get the flu vaccine to make sure we don’t catch the flu this upcoming fall and winter. Unfortunately, getting the flu shot doesn’t 100% guarantee that we won’t catch the flu. From there we can take extra precautionary measures!

Wearing a mask is the best way to protect yourself and those around you. If you’re sick, you don’t want to spread the flu to others, and on the other hand, if someone else is sick, the mask can be the extra barrier you need to make sure you don’t catch what they have. Another way to prep for the flu season is to make sure your medicine cabinet is stocked! This doesn’t mean stockpiling on certain items like a lot of people did during the peak of the pandemic, but making sure you have Tylenol, Advil, or any other kind of sick / cold medication can help you fight the sickness if you do catch it.

Lastly, if you’re feeling sick, stay home! Staying home helps your body relax and recuperate while you’re sick. Not only that, but by staying home, you’ll be protecting the people around you! You decrease the chances of spreading the flu to someone else by staying at home and making sure your body is well-rested to fight the sickness.
